Matatu strike ends on Day 2

Apparently the Matatu welfare association has agreed to end their strike after a meeting with the PM today who agreed to look into their grievances. Apparently in the 2 days the industry has lost 720 million shillings and things haven’t been better as the roads have been as full of traffic as all cars were on the road.

I agree with the principle of making the Goverment take notice of the extortion on the matatu industy via traffic cops but i’d also challenge the matatu guys to not break the traffic rules. That way there will be no need to bribe any policeman.

As the police get a bad rap though could we also try and at least obey the few laws and our traffic lights in town especially drivers with personal cars who are becoming very notorious in overlapping, jumping traffic lights and cutting off other people in traffic.
